Hi Guys,

I'm new here and want to share knowledge I gained about Unreal engine and answer questions people asked.
I checked the "new" section and there were 2 questions I would love to answer. But I was unable because they all say "Not open for further replies."
I do ask myself why is it being locked right away without any answers?

I'll try to share some knowledge about building lighting in Unreal engine:
The issue where light bleeds between the walls is because the edges are split up and one edge of the UV does not know what the lighting for the other edge is.
So you get these seams that appear, even if the mesh is a single object and not individual pieces.
The main issue is that each individual object gets processed by itself and so some things like smoothing will be different and cause variations in lighting color. The effect is the most extreme when an object is lit mostly by indirect lighting. But, it's still better for something like that to be modeled as a single object, it will lower the number of draw calls and the amount of polygons.

Hope this helps! ;)

Hey I have a few questions, but I don't know how to word them (correctly) although I can explain them.
Its next to useless for me to search youtube and google because of this.
That and my opinion of most Youtube "Creators" are Monopolizing my time with waste or little to no help at all...

I don't want to type too much more here, however, I am looking for someone to let me pick their brain and clear up a few frustrations.

Yeah, I have few questions also... first one... I just upgraded from an i7 /1050 6gb vram and 16gb ram(/w regular hdd) system to a new i9 / 3060ti 8gb vram and 32gb ram ddr5 (with ssd drive) and the unreal 5 editor performance improvement is barely noticable... any ideas why?

Runtime stuff is faster but the editor still kind of slow, lags occassionaly, studders, etc. is that normal? I figured an i9 with 32 gb should be smoother.

Well, you can post it here, and people can answer. I am no expert though but love to help others where I can. :)
And I understand your experience with Youtube, I just watch a select few YouTubers that are known for their quality like Extra Credits & Mathew Wadstein.

Hi, congrats on your upgrade! Sounds really good. So yeah it should be smoother.
First of all, check your RAM setup in the bios, you always have to set this manually to the right MHz to get the real benefit.
Secondly, I use Nvidea Studio drivers which are made for usage like us in Unreal Engine. And yes, you can still play games with that driver (some games even with better FPS!).
If this does not help, then let us know what happens exactly. Because for instance, when opening a new project for the first time it always has to load textures etc. That's normal.

Thanks, I also noticed that is takes a bit until all the background stuff (not just shaders but other things too) have to load in... but after about 1 hour of using... it got faster.
